Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Car in Naperville

The crash occurred early Sunday morning.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car early Sunday morning.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a black 2011 Honda was traveling southbound on Route 59 and the pedestrian was westbound crossing Route 59 at Brookdale Road when the collision occurred at around 12:50 a.m. Upon arrival, responding units observed the Honda and a pedestrian in the intersection. The Fire Department provided emergency medical attention to the pedestrian who was seriously injured and transported to Edward Hospital.

Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, trained in traffic crash reconstruction, responded to the scene to investigate the crash. During the course of the initial investigation segments of Route 59 and Brookdale Road were closed and rerouted until approximately 4:20 a.m.

No charges or citations have been issued at this time, as the investigation continues.
