Program focuses on mental health, when seeking help may be needed
Saying 2020 was a very difficult year is certainly understatement. It's no wonder people are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety
If you’d like tips about improving your mental health or that of someone dear to you, mark your calendar, now, to attend “New Year, New Hope: Mental Health Is Just as Important as Physical Health.” Registration is required for this free online session that will be held from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. It is being sponsored by the Pastoral Care Department and the Behavioral Health Ministry Team of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
During the program, Paula Kosin, a member of the Behavioral Health Ministry Team who also facilitates grief support groups at St. Thomas, will offer suggestions about ways to improve mental health, signs of concern to watch for, resources available to help restore good mental health, and how to take those first brave, tentative steps toward improving mental health.
Kosin, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), brings a wealth of knowledge to the topic, buttressed by her career as a consultant, career coach, writer, speaker and a hospice vigil volunteer.

“My hope,” says Kosin, “is that people come away from this presentation with more knowledge and confidence, and less misunderstanding and fear, about the topics that will be discussed.”
Registration deadline for “New Year, New Hope,” is Monday, Feb. 22. Registrants will receive an email with information needed to access the Zoom session.
