Rain Won't Spoil The Fun: 5K And Open House Rescheduled

Heavy rain delayed the events last week. Now, everything's back on track for Sunday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Police and Fire won’t let last weekend’s rain spoil the fun. The previously rained-out Public Safety Open House and Stop, Drop and Run 5k have been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 22. The 5k will begin at 8 a.m. at the entrance to Fire Station No. 7 at 1380 Aurora Ave. Runners and walkers will loop Lake Osborne and the Public Safety Campus. Registration will be accepted beginning at 7 a.m. at Fire Station No. 7.

The annual Public Safety Open House will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday on the Public Safety Campus, which shares the same address as the fire station. Several demonstrations will take place, including an auto extraction, landing of a Lifestar helicopter (weather permitting) and a flashover fire demonstration to show how quickly fire can spread. Participants can interact with police and fire vehicles, take home information and meet Sparky the Fire Dog and McGruff the Crime Dog.
