Rutan Appointed As Ellsworth Elementary's Next Principal
Kimberley Rutan will replace Cheryl Degan, who is set to retire at the end of the 2020-21 school year.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville Community Unit School District 203's Board of Education recently approved the appointment of Kimberley Rutan as Ellsworth's Elementary School's next principal. Rutan, whose appointment was approved at the April 6 board meeting, will replace current principal Cheryl Degan, who is set to retire at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
Prior to her appointment at Ellsworth, Rutan was principal at Madison School in Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 for six years. Rutan has also served as assistant principal at elementary schools in Community Consolidated School District 15 and Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.
Rutan earned her bachelor's degree in English education and history at Illinois State University before going on to complete her master's degree in educational leadership at the University of St. Francis.

“Ms. Rutan brings an abundance of building leadership to Ellsworth Elementary School,” District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges said in a news release.
Bridges added, “During her tenure in Hinsdale, Ms. Rutan led a school improvement process to increase student growth and proficiency across all grade levels and ultimately earned Madison School a National Blue Ribbon Award.”

Rutan said in the news release that she is "committed to fostering a school environment that is positive, supportive, innovative, and focused on student growth and learning."
Rutan went on, "I am excited to get to know the students, families and staff at Ellsworth Elementary School."
