With the summer swimming season under way at Centennial Beach, Naperville Park District announces the return of Special Needs Nights, which provide times set aside for families with special needs to enjoy a quiet, relaxing evening at the Beach. The shallow end and slide will be open Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. following the regular 6:00 p.m. closing on June 20, 27, July 18 and July 25. No pre-registration is required; special needs families may use their Beach membership or purchase individual passes at the door for $4 per person.

Special Needs Nights began in 2010 to provide a lower-key experience with less noise and splashing and less intense heat – all aspects that can be challenging for individuals with special needs. Centennial Beach staff determined that Sunday evenings were ideal for a quieter atmosphere and an optimal time to host this event.

“We are excited to welcome families with special needs back to Centennial Beach,” said Aquatics Manager Jackie Gonzalez. “Families love these evenings when their children can play and swim freely and feel at ease.”
