Students With Special Needs To Cheer At Nequa Valley Game
The Cheer with a Peer team will perform during the first half of the game.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Neuqua Valley High School cheerleading squad will be even more energetic and bright on Oct. 12 when peers with special needs join team cheerleaders to perform.
The Cheer with a Peer Program got its start through Adreanne Nelson, who attended Neuqua Valley and has worked with special needs students in the school's Best Buddies and Neuqua Peer Partners program. Once the cheerleading coaching team was on board, other staff and teachers have stepped in to support the effort.
When the cheerleaders and peers perform together, they'll all have matching outfits courtesy of two generous local business owners. Emily Weil, a varsity cheerleader, expressed her excitement about Cheer with a Peer in a news release. Weil said, "It is indescribable to watch the athletes have so much fun cheering and I think it shows how much cheer can bring people together."
