Teens Arrested For Street Racing In Naperville

The teens were driving a Mazda Miata and a Ford Focus.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Just after midnight on Sunday, a Naperville police officer saw two cars speeding near Aurora Ave and West Street, according to police spokesman Lou Cammiso. A red Mazda Miata and a gray Ford Focus appeared to be racing each other and the two cars were traveling 55 m.p.h in a 30 m.p.h. zone.

The officer approached the two drivers after they stopped at a shopping center near Gartner and West Street, about a mile and a half away from where she first observed the two cars.

The driver of the Miata was a 17-years-old male from Naperville. He was arrested for street racing and curfew violation. The driver of the Ford was Michael Calkins, 18, of Glen Ellyn. He was arrested and charged with street racing.
