Tornado Damage Devastates Woodridge, Naperville, Darien: Photos
A possible EF-3 tornado swept through Woodridge, Naperville and Darien, destroying homes and causing widespread damage throughout the area.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — A tornado that swept through Woodridge, Naperville and Darien Sunday night left at least five people hospitalized in its wake, plus hundreds of homes damaged and thousands of people without power.
Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service reported finding damage in Naperville consistent with an EF-3 rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. An EF-3 rating tornado can bring wind gusts of up to 160 mph.
Patch readers shared images of the destruction that show walls ripped from homes, power lines leveled and trees uprooted. More than 130 homes were damaged in Naperville, where five people were hospitalized, and one person was in critical condition.

As of early Monday, the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado caused “at least part of the damage” seen in Naperville, Woodridge, Darien and Burr Ridge.
According to Woodridge police, the tornado touched down east of Route 53 between 83rd Street and 75th Street. The tornado moved east toward Lemont Road, which was partially closed early Monday, according Darien police.

Officials say at least 200 homes sustained damage in Naperville and Woodridge.
