Toy Store Owner's Story Time Warms Hearts In Coronavirus Shutdown
"It's super super fun," 4-year-old Zoe said.

NAPERVILLE, IL — When the new coronavirus shutdown left Naperville mom and toy store owner Ashley Humberstone at home with her four-year-old, Zoe, she took to social media to spread joy with daily online story time.
Humberstone, who owns Learning Express Toys, said she "missed being able to interact with the kids & families during the stay-at-home order." She found a creative way to spend time with her daughter and entertain others in the community. Thus, Facebook Live Storytime was born.
Her daughter Zoe said she loves story time because, "It's super super fun." She added that "[I]t's the best in the world and I get to be with my mommy" and that she "love[s] when Grandma & my Aunties watch."

Humberstone also offered tips for parents looking for other creative ways to pass the time during the coronavirus shutdown. She said, "I think the biggest thing is to remember that the kids are happy to just spend time with their families. While us adults will all remember the hardships that have come from this time, kids will remember that one month where everyone was together."
Humberstone added that play is essential for kids. She said, "During this time, [kids] don't necessarily need every minute planned in a structured activity or lesson. Just let them PLAY and use their imaginations. Kids learn so many important lessons and skills through open ended play."
She said, "Never underestimate the entertainment value of paper and crayons, driveway and chalk or even just exploring your own backyard!"
