What Community Associations Need to Know

Kara Cermak, president of Rowell Inc., says a recent Chicago court case has had community associations across the country making sure they conduct business a certain way. Cermak tells association board members to follow their documents to the letter and to make sure the expert advice they get from accountants, lawyers and other professionals is in writing. Rowell Inc. believes in transparency when dealing with its community associations. To that end, the company tries to provide as much information as possible to association members outside the board. Cermak says operating in that fashion decreases the chances of getting into trouble.
