New Lenox Again Participating in ‘Safe Ride Home’ Program
New Lenox one of several communities to provide free rides home from establishments on New Year's Eve.

NEW LENOX, IL — The Village of New Lenox has again joined forces with Orland Park, Palos Heights, Mokena and Tinley Park for the Safe Ride Home program, which helps to reduce the number of drunk drivers traveling the roads on New Year’s Eve.
Via Limo will provide free rides home from establishments within the participating towns from midnight to 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan 1. Drivers will transport revelers home and not to other establishments. Revelers can call Via Limo at (708) 349-7700 to arrange for a ride during the designated hours and must mention the Safe Ride Home program when they call.
The program is funded by each of the participating municipalities and with a grant from the Michael P. Gordon Foundation, named in honor of a 30-year-old Chicago police officer who was killed by a drunk driver in 2004.
