Police Search for Answers in Christmas Eve Fatal Hit-and-Run

A woman's body was found on an I-57 median on Saturday, Dec. 24.

Illinois State Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a driver believed to have fatally struck a pedestrian on I-57 on Christmas Eve.

The incident occurred near Chebanse around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 24. Police that morning were called to the scene around 8 a.m., where they found 30-year-old Jamie M. DeLeon, of Bradley, dead on the median.

Using debris at the scene, police have narrowed the possible vehicles involved to a 2006-7 Honda Accord. The vehicle would have visible damage to the driver-side front bumper and would be missing at least part of the faux grill, police said in a release. A headlight lens could potentially also be missing. It's unknown if the car is two- or four-door.
