5 Things to Do When it Hits 70 in the South Suburbs on Wednesday
It's going to be 70 and sunny on Wednesday. How about a nature hike, ice cream and ghost tales?

Temperatures are expected to hit the lower to mid-70s on Wednesday with lots of sun. And while we are already on a record-breaking hot streak in Chicagoland, early forecasts indicate Wednesday will be the best day yet.
Here are a few ways to take advantage of the good weather on the south suburbs.
Lake Katherine Nature Center - The wildlife is sure to be out and the lake nice and reflective. It might offer a good change of pace to see it with a backdrop of trees and plants in February since you are most likely more accustomed to its looks in the spring, summer and fall. Nature lovers have multiple options with the Little Red Schoolhouse is not too far a drive in Willow Springs and the beautiful Maple Lake not too far from there on 95th Street.

Hike or Bike the Trails - The warm weather gives everyone an excuse to avoid the gym. A hike on the Rubio Woods trail or bike/run on the Cal Sag or Old Plank Road trails is a good option. There's ample opportunity to take in a wooded experience with Cook County Forest Preserve.
Febtober Fun - Halloween might be eight months away, but the spooky spirit can come anytime while hitting up some of the Southland's most infamous haunted places. Find a parking spot along 143rd Street and head across into Bachelor's Grove Cemetery (during the daylight hours, of course) and find the grave titled 'Infant Daughter.' If you are driving along Archer Road near Resurrection Cemetery in Justice later at night, make sure to avoid any hitchhikers. Unless you want to meet Mary, of course.

Ice Cream Stop at The Plush Horse - The year-round ice cream shoppes in Tinley Park and Palos Park are sure to be busy on Wednesday. Outdoor seating is available, and the Palos location is already celebrating "Customer Appreciation Week." On Wednesday, it will only be $5 for a banana split. Get a $2 baby scoop on Tuesday, $3 shake or malt (any size) on Thursday and buy one get one waffle cone free on Friday.
Home-gawking - Take a joy ride through places like Frankfort, Flossmoor, Orland Park and Homer Glen and glance at all the luxurious cribs most of us can only dream about. There's quite a few on the market, too.
