Patch chatted with Matthew Prunckle, Dean of Student Life at Brother Rice High School, about how the institution serves their community.

Patch: How long have you been involved in the Brother Rice High School community?
Prunckle: This is my third year back at Brother Rice High School. In my first two years, I was a Director of Admissions. I am now in my first year as Dean of Student Life. I am also the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach. Brother Rice High School has been educating young men since 1956.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Prunckle: I am incredibly excited to be the first Dean of Student Life at Brother Rice High School. When looking back at my time as a student at Brother Rice, I am most fond of the brotherhood and culture of the school. Having the opportunity to play a role in shaping that school culture is a tremendous honor.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Prunckle: Prepare students for lifelong success.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Prunckle: The biggest challenge in my job is to live up to the expectations of the Brother Rice community. “Be a Crusader. Be Exceptional.” is not just a tagline, but a daily challenge to each and every Crusader. I truly believe that we stand on the shoulders of giants at Brother Rice and we have to live up to their example.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Prunckle: Seeing young boys develop into young men who are ready for what awaits them after their four years at Brother Rice.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Prunckle: Brother Rice offers the most balanced of high school experiences. That is exemplified in our well-rounded graduates that are ready to take on the challenges that are waiting for them.

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Prunckle: We are continuing to build culture through relationships at Brother Rice. We are excited to offer more and more opportunities for our young men to get involved and become active members of the Brother Rice Family.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Prunckle: We are excited and hopeful to offer opportunities for the community to experience Brother Rice as we enter the spring. We look forward to offering camps and clinics for prospective students throughout the spring and summer. Camps and clinics include sports, clubs and academic offerings. Currently, we offer private tours for prospective families. You can contact our Admissions Office to schedule a tour.
