Lake Katherine Winter Fest Brings Out Families For Frosty Fun

More than 400 kids and adults attended Lake Katherine's Winter Fest on Feb. 3. Were you there? Photo highlights.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- Families were out in force last Saturday getting rosy cheeks and enjoying cold-weather activities at Lake Katherine’s Winterfest. More 400 children and adults headed outside for a dose of fresh air and fun at the Palos Heights’ park enjoying hayrides, marshmallow toasting, candle-making, crafts, face-painting, and live animals.

Special guests included The Children’s Farm at the Center who attended with petting animals and Pilcher Park Nature Center who brought a raptor to meet the crowds. Revelers were also able to get up close to critters from Lake Katherine such as snakes and turtles.

Palos Heights Fire Protection District braved the icy cold lake water to perform an ice rescue demonstration. The fest was sponsored by NuFarm Americas, Interdom LLC, and Peace Village. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards children's programs, ecological restoration, and animal care.
