Each 50-minute, Treadfit workout incorporates periods of interval training on a treadmill, with periods of recovery and strength-building exercises. This type of high-intensity interval training has been proven to increase endurance and improve fat burning, resulting in a stronger, faster, and leaner individual. Each client has the opportunity to wear a heart-rate monitor to track heart rate zones and accurate calorie burn. Clients on average will burn between 400-800 calories per class.

All Treadfit Palos Heights classes will be led by experienced and certified trainers, many of whom currently teach at the Beverly and Western Springs locations. Workouts will be open to all fitness levels, including walkers, joggers, and hardcore runners, ages 16 and older.

Treadfit opened its Beverly location in August 2015, and since that time, the gym has more than tripled its client base. Treadfit expanded to its Western Springs location in March, 2018. Owned and operated by Beverly resident Jenny Harkins, Treadfit recently franchised the Palos Heights location to Mary Kate Cook, a former Treadfit client and employee.

Cook, a resident of Evergreen Park, was a Treadfit client for more than three years, when she received her American Council on Exercise (ACE) certification and became an instructor at the Beverly location. Her passion for the Treadfit workout led Cook and her husband to explore the option of franchising into the Palos location.

“I am so excited to bring Treadfit to an area that has no other fitness facility of its kind, and I have seen first-hand the positive impact Treadfit has brought to its clients and its communities,” said Cook. “All classes at Treadfit are small so our clients will have the opportunity to have one-on-one instruction that a larger, chain gym cannot offer. Our mission is to provide workouts for all fitness levels, and we want all clients to feel welcome. I believe the Palos Heights area will embrace Treadfit and will make it their ‘go-to’ fitness facility.”
