Original Island Shrimp House Celebrates National Lobster Day
Original Island Shrimp House debuts a foot-long lobster roll in honor of National Lobster Day, all weekend June 15-June 17.

PALOS PARK, IL -- This Friday, June 15, is National Lobster Day in America, and one of the best seafood joints in the Southland is making big plans to celebrate everyone’s favorite crustacean. Original Island Shrimp House in Palos Park is unveiling its newest catch -- a foot-long lobster roll served prepared especially for the occasion. While the restaurant is a long way from the ocean, Original Shrimp House has earned a reputation among south suburbanites for serving the highest quality lobster.
Owner and East Coast-transplant Tim Keefer is doubling the size of Original Island Shrimp House’s Maine-style roll served on a brioche bun and topped with a mixture of fresh lobster, celery, mayo, fresh squeezed lemon and signature spice blend so good you’ll swear you’re in New England and not in a strip mall off LaGrange Road.
The lobster celly will be going on all weekend, June 15, June 16 and June 17. The foot-long "beast from the east" goes for $49.99, but in honor of National Lobster Day, the restaurant has knocked the price down to $39.99. Wait there’s more -- the first 50 people in line on Saturday, June 16, will get a free lobster roll, so bring your ten kids. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m.

The brioche bun for the weekend celebration has been specially prepared for the restaurant by the Highland Baking Co. in Northbrook. The weekend’s activities also a naming contest for a 15-foot long, 10-feet wide inflatable lobster. All the names will be put into a hat and the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate. We vote for Lumpy.
