Palos Communities Set Trick-or-Treat Hours For Halloween

Palos Heights, Palos Hills and Palos Park will allow trick-or-treating but families should follow CDC and IDPH guidelines for Halloween.

PALOS, IL — Palos Heights and Palos Hills have both set hours for trick-or-treating from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, pandemic or not. Households should stick together, wear face masks, wash their hands and maintain six feet distance from other trick-or-treaters.

The City of Palos Heights has links to CDC and IDPH guidelines, and printable window signs welcoming trick-of-treaters.

Palos Hills also has posted the IDPH and CDC guidelines, and printable signs including “GHOST WELCOME” signs for residents passing out candy, and “THIS PUMPKIN IS PASSING” signs for residents who are sitting out Halloween this year.

In Palos Park, families are being encouraged to consider other alternatives for celebrating Halloween, but is not discouraging trick-or-treating. Families that do decide to participate in trick-or-treating, are advised to follow IDPH Halloween guidelines, such as staying outside, using plenty of hand sanitizer, and discarding the costume mask and wearing a face mask instead.

Residents who wish to pass out treats should leave individually wrapped candy spread out on a table on a table or walkway so that each piece is not touching another. Also, residents should wash their hands or use sanitizer after passing out candy.

Sunset will be at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Turn the clocks back one hour before heading to bed when Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Nov. 1.
