PALOS PARK, IL — It’s still not known how COVID-19 might affect the night before Thanksgiving, considered the biggest drinking night of the year. During the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Palos Park police will patrolling the streets and roadways watching for drivers who exhibit signs of impaired driving.

If you’ve had too much to drink on “Black Wednesday Eve” or “Drinksgiving,” the nice officers from the Palos Park Police Department will be happy to give you a ride home rather than bust you for a DUI.

Before you head out, save Palos Park PD’s number in your phone, 708-448-2191. Officers will pick you up and get you home safely -- no questions asked and no lectures. Police will only take you home, and not to another bar or party.

Over the long holiday weekend Palos Park police will be targeting driving that "puts others on the roads at risk."

“Impaired, distracted, and aggressive driving incidents are preventable and not worth the risk," said Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department. “The goal of our increased enforcement is to save lives and help make sure everyone gets home safely, not just over the Thanksgiving weekend, but every day.”
