Snow Blamed For Roof Collapse At Fitzjoy Riding Academy
Officials said a section of the roof collapsed at the Palos Park horse farm and riding academy. No horses were reported injured.
PALOS PARK, IL — The roof at Fitzjoy Farm and Riding Academy collapsed Wednesday in Palos Park. The roof was one of several that collapsed this week from the weight of heavy snow.
Palos Park police said the back section of a barn collapsed at 12211 South La Grange Road. Horses were inside the barn but no animals were reported injured. Structural engineers remained on the scene into the evening.
Lauren Pruss, community development director for Palos Park, said heavy snow caused the expansive roof to collapse in two places.
