St. Alexander Business Manager Recognized As 'School Hero'

Paula Somers honored for going above and beyond to keep St. Alexander School safe during the pandemic by the Archdiocese of Chicago.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — A St. Alexander School staff member has been recognized as a #SchoolHero by the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools. Paula Somers, the school business manager, was recognized for her hard work in going above and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Somers has served in the role of business manager for 10 years at the Palos Heights Catholic school. She is a beloved member in the school community and received numerous nominations for the award from staff, students and parents. One parent wrote:

"Paula goes above and beyond her job title. She was always very involved in the Parish and working very hard to keep it safe for the parishioners and truly is Father Marty's right hand. She has now taken on a new role in our school community by helping keep our school a safe place. Paula is out In the parking lot every day before and after school, checking temperatures and helping children get into school or car’s safely. Paula is dedicated and loves our St. Alexander community, and we are so blessed to have her. She is a true hero."

An eighth-grade student wrote that Mrs. Somers:
