Sunrise Residents Roll Up Their Sleeves For COVID Vaccine

Residents at Sunrise of Palos Park were among the first seniors in Illinois to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

PALOS PARK, IL — Sunrise of Palos Park sweetened the COVID-19 vaccine experience by turning its clinic into an ice cream social. The residents were among the first seniors in Illinois to receive the vaccine.

Vaccines were administered to both residents and team members onsite at the community. The theme was get the scoop, with an ice cream bar set up for refreshing celebration after each vaccine. After a tough 2020, residents and team members happily rolled up their sleeves to get jabbed. You could see the residents’ smiles behind their facemasks knowing they were taking a step forward toward protecting themselves and others.

In recent weeks, Sunrise Senior Living has been in regular contact with federal, state and local government and health officials as well as CVS Health, to prepare for vaccination clinics at communities throughout the United States.

Data from a recent survey of more than 8,000 Sunrise residents and families revealed that 92 percent of respondents will probably or definitely receive the vaccine for themselves or their loved one.
