Work Set To Begin On Harlem Avenue Bridge Over Cal-Sag

Cleaning and painting of Harlem Avenue bridge over Cal-Sag is set to begin April 1, pending weather. Roadway will be reduced to one lane.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL – The Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) bridge over the Cal Sag Channel in Palos Heights and Worth is scheduled for cleaning and painting. Work will begin Thursday, April 1, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced. .

To complete the work, Harlem Avenue between College Drive (Illinois 83) and 116th Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with lane widths reduced to 9.6 feet. Work is expected to be complete in October.

Motorists can expect occasional delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
