2018 MCYAF Community Heroes Named
Area Residents to be honored at Sept. 20th MCYAF Community Heroes Benefit Dinner

Maine Community Youth Assistance Foundation will recognize six area citizens and one youth group with 2018 Community Heroes Awards during a fundraising dinner on Sept. 20.
The award recipients were selected based on their work to help local youth stay healthy and drug free.
The 2018 award recipients include:
• Rosemary Argus, a past Des Plaines alderman and Mount Prospect Park District commissioner who is executive director of the Des Plaines Community Foundation, which generates and distributes financial support to programs offered through the Des Plaines Health Community Partnership. Rosemary has decades of service helping our youth.

• Garry Abezetian, commissioner of Park Ridge Baseball. The mission of Park Ridge Baseball is aligned with that of MCYAF by providing a community that promotes healthy youth.
• Jim Lange, former Park Ridge Park District executive director, Park Ridge Baseball/Softball commissioner, youth football coach and member of the MCYAF Board of Directors for more than five years.

• James Purcell, a long-time supporter of Maine South football, including involvement on the Maine South Football Committee, which raises money for the team. James is also an active supporter of Mary Seat of Wisdom School in Park Ridge.
• Tony Hollenback, director of Niles Family Services, and Darren Brown, assistant director. Niles Family Services offers counseling services to Niles residents and families dealing with difficult situations, and partners with MCYAF for adjudication hearings involving underage offenders of drug and alcohol laws.
• The Park Ridge Police Explorers Program, which gives local youth an opportunity to learn about police work and serve their community.
The MCYAF Community Heroes benefit will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Cafe la Cave in Des Plaines. Tickets are $80 and tables of 12 are $900.
