Ice Cream Shop Closes Due To Lack Of Staff: Report
The Frosty Penguin Grill is having trouble finding a manager, a position that pays $18 an hour and is open to anyone 21 years old or older.
PARK RIDGE, IL — The doors of the Frosty Penguin Grill haven't been open for a month, and they will remain closed until further notice – and that's due to a lack of employees, owner Gregory Chanthalusy said.
"The restaurant industry & others have taken a massive hit because it cannot find employees willing to work. We are in desperate need of a store manager," a post on the grill's Facebook page reads, noting that the position pays $18 an hour and is open to anyone at least 21 years old.
Chanthalusy told WGN-TV that though he has been advertising the position for close to a month, only one person has applied.

The manager would work with a staff of 10 people, Chanthalusy told the TV station, most of whom are teens who have worked summers at the grill in the past.
“We’re losing great kids we trained two years ago,” Chanthalusy said. “They’re off to better things.”

Chanthalusy is not alone – though the United States added approximately 850,000 new jobs in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, hiring at restaurants still remains a challenge.
