Caddyshack Comedy Kicks Off March 7th In Rosemont

Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant in Rosemont adds live stand-up comedy to the menu with the Caddyshack Comedy monthly showcase series.

People of a certain age need only hear the word Caddyshack to prompt the recitation of many quotes and catchphrases that have become part of American lexicon.

“Hey, Lama! How about a little something, you know, for the effort?”

“Don’t sell yourself short, judge. You’re a tremendous slouch.”

“So, I got that going for me, which is nice.”

“We have a pool and a pond. The pond would be good for you.”

If you visit Murray Bros. Caddyshack, the 8,600-square-foot restaurant, located adjacent to the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel and Conference Center, in Rosemont, Illinois, you’ll see many of those quotes painted on the walls of the eatery that celebrates all things Caddyshack and the famous family that is forever connected to the 1980 film of the same name. Brian Doyle-Murray co-wrote the script and was part of the cast, and of course Bill Murray created the iconic character, slacker assistant groundskeeper Carl Spackler.

Entertainers Bill, Brian, Joel and John, along with their siblings Ed and chef Andy Murray opened the Rosemont location in April 2018. The first Caddyshack restaurant, located in St. Augustine, Florida, opened in 2001.

It seems only natural that the second Caddyshack would find itself in Chicago (or close to Chicago). The Murrays were born and raised north of Chicago, in Wilmette and the classic movie is based on the experiences of the actors and writers when they worked as caddies in the north shore suburbs.

It also makes perfect sense that a restaurant themed after the quintessential comedy flick would want to provide comedic entertainment. That’s just what Caddyshack aims to do with Caddyshack Comedy, a new series of stand-up comedy dinner showcases beginning March 7th.

The evening will include a three-course meal and a stand-up comedy showcase featuring professional comedians from Chicago and the suburbs. The comedy show is produced for the venue by Highland Park based Funnier By The Lake Comedy.

The show is affordable—just $30 per person—and the space is limited. Tickets can be pre-purchased online to secure reservations.

The first show lineup includes Laura Hugg, Oscar Carvajal, Katie Meiners and headliner Peter-John Byrnes.
