Susan Rowlen, who followed her heart to use her gifts for private clients, has now expanded, splitting her time between Illinois and Arizona

Susan Rowlen is a well-known psychic who began her career more than 30 years ago helping police locate missing persons. Today, she uses her gift not only to help solve cases, but also to convey messages between those who have passed on and their loved ones. Earlier this year, Rowlen expanded in another way. She decided to live in two states -- Arizona and Illinois -- and have clients in each. The story of how she ended up with a second home in Arizona is filled with the kind of communications from the other side that fill her life.
On the trip she took to decide if this was what was in her best interest, she continually saw white feathers along her path.

“Somebody is trying to tell me something,” she says knowingly. “ I will figure it out.”
On the last day, Rowlen and her husband Tom decide to go to this little cafe for breakfast. The two arrive at the restaurant with not a lot of time to spare before they have to go to the airport.

“Now there is a line, like about 20 people ahead of us,” she said. “There is only one table outside.”
A second hostess approached Rowlen, a brunette, and she asks the hostess if she can sit at the outside table. The hostess leads the way.
“So now I am sitting at that table that the 20 people didn’t get to sit at,” she said.
She and her husband eat breakfast and on the way out, she tells the original hostess that she wants to thank the one that seated her, the brunette.
“She said, ‘there is no brunette hostess.’”
Rowlen said that she knew in that moment that ‘the hostess was her angel leading her in the direction she wanted her to go.’ The feathers she kept seeing were a map of sorts. On the way out of the restaurant, Rowlen saw a guy flipping a sign that said “you should live here.” In tiny letters print on the bottom of the sign was the logo for ReMax.
Rowlen encounters those on the other side much in the way that you or I encounter the living. When she first realized she had this gift, she was a small child.
“I was six, she remembered. “My grandfather had passed away when I was 6 years old and we weren’t allowed to go to the wake and funeral.”
But for Rowlen, nothing had changed. Her grandfather was still appearing to her as he had when he was alive.
“Six years old is when I saw the difference between (the living and the dead). I never knew the difference between present and the spirit world,” she clarified.
Her path to help connect people to their loved ones grew out of a very successful career helping police departments solve missing person cases. A police officer suggested she expand her gift to help ordinary citizens.
“I thought about it,” she explained. “I took a few days to think about it. You know what I am doing it. It is who I am I talk to dead people all day long, no matter where I go.”
Client Chris DeSanto owns the building where Rowlen has her Illinois office.
“She came in one day and wanted to rent an office,” DeSanto detailed. “I just took a liking to her right away. She liked the facility, she liked the space and she rented an office. I told her when she rented the space that I could give her the space at this price, but I wanted a reading.”
She agreed.
“I never had a reading and I was one of those people who just sat there and let her talk and the more she talked the more she started making sense and things that only I would know,” he said about the reading.
The first instance was when she was explaining to DeSanto some things his father had said when he communicated from the other side and one of the exclamations included expletives.
“I think he made up swear words and he never got credit for it,” he said of his father when he was alive.”
The next confirmation came the next day. Rowlen walked into his office the next day and asked if he had liked his reading. She said that sometimes spirits stay with her after a reading.
“Well, your dad, he kinda followed me home; he wanted to talk to me so after dinner I made a pot of coffee and sat at the kitchen table and he told me stories all night,” DeSanto explained in amazement. My father’s thing was after dinner he would go to a neighbor’s house and coffee clutch.”
And sometimes it is not the other side, but her psychic abilities that are most needed for a client.
D. Rizzo said his experience of Rowlen gave him direction in seeking the job he currently holds.
“She said, ‘you know, you live in a beautiful home, I think its new. I think its 24 months old,” Rizzo explained. I see a fairly long commute but you really like your job. I see a change for you in the fall of 2017. And you’re gonna get a boost and you’re gonna have a lot of responsibility and you’re not going to be contained to this one office.’”
Rizzo said his job puts him in charge of the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
“This lady was right on and i don’t know where she pulls it from, I don’t know where,” he said with amazement. “It’s strange how that happens, but she is right on with it.”
DeSanto has only had the one reading from Rowlen. But, because they share an office, he gets to see her clients come in for appointments and watches how their body language changes after a reading.
“A bunch of people leave in tears, mostly happy tears,” he said. “I look at them and I go enjoy your reading. You can see them being put at ease.”
