BENSENVILLE, IL — An online fundraiser set up to raise funds for a memorial and to cover the funeral expenses of a 13-year-old boy who was fatally shot by a friend has exceeded its goal. Hunter Krzysik was at a friend's house in Bensenville on Aug. 8 when the accidental shooting occurred.

Krysik and a small group of friends were handling a gun, which had not been locked up in the home when Krzysik's 14-year-old friend fired the gun, according to authorities. Authorities first at the scene found the 13-year-old boy bleeding from the head.

The 14-year-old boy has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and is on house arrest.
