Maine South football wins state championship

The team defeated Loyola Academy of Wilmette

Maine South High School of Park Ridge defeated Loyola Academy of Wilmette, 27-17, in their division of the state championship Saturday night in Champaign, according to USA Today. The final score was 27 to 17.

Maine South's opponent in the 8A division Illinois state champion game, Loyola Academy, had won their last 30 games.

This is the sixth title in Maine South football history, and the fourth championship under head coach Dave Inserra.
