The Park Ridge mayor also vetoed a contract for public works employees, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Park Ridge Mayor David Schmidt has vetoed the second phase of the $1.2 million renovation of the Park Ridge police station, the Chicago Tribune reports.

He also vetoed a contract for public works employees with the International Union of Operating Engineers, the newspaper reports. Schmidt said he carried out the vetoes due to poor fiscal state of the city in the 2013-2014 budget. He said the renovation of the police station is not necessary at this time.
