Park Ridge Blotter: Ruse Burglary

Burglary

Officers responded to a burglary in the 1900 block of Woodland on April 19. According to police, the offender(s) gained entry by prying open a door. Reported stolen were jewelry and cash.

Jewelry and documents were reported stolen from a condo in the 300 block of Dee Road on April 23.

Ruse burglary

An unknown offender in a black sedan pulled into a victim’s driveway and told the homeowner that he was a plumber that needed to look at the property line. 

The victim would later realize that a second person had entered her home, police said. Missing was cash and a checkbook, police said.

Criminal damage

A homeowner reported that an unknown person(s) damaged his basketball backboard, flood lights, garden votives and windows in the 1400 block of S. Prospect on April 22.

An unknown offender used a BB gun and damaged the siding of a window in the 1000 block of Vine on April 25.

Stolen auto

A 2011 Acura MDX was reported stolen from the 100 block of Meacham on April 22. The owner told police that an extra set of keys were inside the vehicle, the report stated.

Theft

A metal firewood rack was reported stolen from a home in the 2800 block of Oakton on April 21.

Stolen wallet

A woman reported her wallet and credit cards stolen from a restaurant in the 100 block of Northwest Highway on April 23.
