The torch run benefits the Special Olympics of Illinois.

The Park Ridge Police Department will carry the torch for a leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run this Sunday, benefitting the Special Olympics of Illinois.

The torch will arrive at 10 a.m. at Dempster and Rand Roads in Park Ridge. Officers will then take the torch to Dempster and Milwaukee and hand it over to Niles police officers. The public is welcome to run along with law enforcement as part of this event. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest year-round fundraising event for the Special Olympics of Illinois. The event is the second highest grossing torch run in the world, according to the Park Ridge city website.
