Love and marriage to famed composer highlighted

Summit program spotlights Clara Schumann

Clara Schumann, whose marriage to the gifted composer Robert Schumann became one of the great true love stories of all time, will come to life at Summit of Uptown Monday, July 23, at 6 p.m. Open to the community, there is no charge for the program. Refreshments will be served. For reservations which are required by Thursday, July 19, call Josephine Bernero, Resident Care Counselor, at 847-825-1161.

This event is just one more example of the many informative, educational and entertaining programs held at Summit. A program of Women Lore TM Performing Women of History, The Life of Clara Schumann—adapted and performed by Betsey Means—will feature a musical performance by Karen Berk Barak. Clara Schumann (1819-1896) was the prodigy daughter of a remarkable piano teacher, Frederich Wieck who was eternally grateful for the art that sustained her through a lifetime of tragedy and triumph.
