Train Hits Car In Park Ridge

Metra service was halted after the crash.

PARK RIDGE, IL — Trains were halted Friday afternoon after a Metra train struck a vehicle in Park Ridge. Police told the Chicago Tribune that the vehicle, which had Florida license plates, was headed north on Prospect Avenue when the railroad crossing gates came down. The front bumper of the vehicle hanging out far enough that it was struck by the train.

No injuries were reported, and Metra said trains were moving again as of just after 5 p.m.

There was no major damage to the train, the Tribune reported.
