'Absolute Wurst' Sausage, Hot Dog Franchise Opening In Romeoville

The Pasadena, California-based company, Dog Haus, will be the first to set up shop in a growing Romeoville business corridor.

ROMEOVILLE, IL - The "absolute wurst" gourmet hot dogs are headed to a growing Romeoville business corridor as part of one franchise's massive expansion across the U.S.

The Pasadena, California-based company, Dog Haus, will be the first to set up shop at the southwest corner of Renwick and Weber roads in Romeoville, according to a community alert.

“It is encouraging to see additional restaurant opportunities along the Weber Road corridor," Romeoville Mayor John Noak said. He added that the Dog Haus opening brings the number of available retail plots in that area down to two.

"With the high traffic volume and the anticipated popularity of the Dog Haus, we anticipate the two remaining lots to develop quickly," Noak said.

Using the "absolute wurst" tagline, Dog Haus touts signature all-beef "Haus Dogs"; hand crafted proprietary "Haus Sausages"; and 100 percent genetically tested, humanely raised Black Angus beef free of hormones and antibiotics.

"All dogs, sausages and burgers are served on grilled King’s Hawaiian rolls," its website says. "Open for lunch and dinner daily, guests can choose from signature, one-of-kind Haus creations or customize their own from a wide array of unique toppings."

The first Dog Haus location opened in California in 2010. It quickly scaled to include 21 eateries in five states — Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and Utah. But a 2016-announced agreement with American Development Partners changed all that: The company is adding more than 300 locations in 12 new states during a seven-year span, making it one of the fastest growing food concepts in the country.

"The new locations are slated to be constructed on land primarily purchased for 'built to suit' and standalone Dog Haus Biergarten concepts, and will be operated by veteran franchisees with extensive multi-unit and multi-brand experience," according to a Dog Haus press release. "The deal — American Development Partners’ biggest commitment to date — has a projected real estate, construction and design investment value of (more than) $500 million."

The company was founded by Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and Andre Vener — three friends who share a passion for creativity, quality and commitment to community.
