The spontaneous mark-making in Zanic’s work is closely tied to calligraphy, language, and symbolic communication. Through the abstract form, she often investigates questions of memories, past, and origin.

Zanic'c signature style of abstract watercolor belies the rigor required to create the notions of abandoned landscapes, ancient scribblings, amoebic flows, and aquatic worlds. These paintings vary in size from the intimate up to six foot tall.
