Joliet Montessori School: Open house, summer camps create a full calendar

As the school year ends, big things are happening at JMS—starting with an open house on May 24

There are only a few days left in the school year at Joliet Montessori School (JMS) in Crest Hill, but activity won’t be slowing down anytime soon. A full calendar of events is slated for the final days of the 2017 session, all open to the public.

Open house, Wednesday, May 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Local families are welcome to tour the school, learn about its programs and get to know the Montessori method of education.

Teachers will be on hand to show families around and describe a typical day in the classroom. Administrators will also be available to explain the school’s dual certifications from both the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

JMS is the only Montessori school in Will County with this dual certification. It is also one of the few in the state of Illinois to offer a complete program for all ages, from preschool through the 9th grade. No RSVP is required to attend the Open House.

Summer camp programs in June and July. For these families with school-age kids up to 8th grade, JMS Summer Camp may be just the ticket. Robots, survival in the wild, time travel and journeys across the globe—they’re all in a day’s fun at JMS this summer. Here’s more information on the diverse selections of programs.

There are two sessions, running from June 12 to June 30, and from July 10 to August 4. Each session is made up of three or four weeklong programs which can be attended individually, or as a group (full-session enrollments come with a 10% discount). Parents do not have to have a child enrolled at JMS to participate.

JMS is located at 1600 Root Street, Crest Hill, at the intersection of Root and Weber Road, where Larkin turns into Weber. The school is currently accepting enrollments for the fall session. Parents are invited to schedule a tour or classroom observation to learn more about the unique environment JMS provides to its students.
