Helen Whately, Lifelong Cubs Fan, Dies At 81
Helen's family requests casual attire in traditional Cubs colors for the memorial.

ROMEOVILLE, IL —Helen E. Whately, nee Varcoe, passed away Saturday February 2, 2019 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet. She was 81.
A resident of the Carillon Community (Canterbury East Subdivision) in Plainfield, formerly of Romeoville, Helen was a member of Crossroads of Faith Methodist Church in Bolingbrook, The Romeoville Golden Ager’s and TOP’s.
She is survived by her loving children, Frank (Lynne) Newberry, Jan Bromberek, David (Mary Lee) Newberry, Lonnie Whately, Connie (Ted) Gasiorek, Bonnie (Larry DeBoer) Gallagher, Johnnie Whately, and Tonnie (Carl) Groth; sister, Ethel Ewing; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Whately; parents, Frank and Bessie Varcoe, and daughter, Laura Kaye Newberry.

A memorial visitation will take place Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a memorial service to begin that evening at 7 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W. Renwick Rd., Crest Hill, IL 60403.
Cremains to be interred privately Friday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. A lifelong Cubs fan, Helen’s family requests casual attire in traditional Cubs colors for the memorial.
