Marine Corporal Surprises Stepdaughter At School: Video
Jonas Salk Elementary student Arijah Mendoza was working on a card for her stepdad when he surprised her in class last week.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — Officials with the Valley View School District say some Jonas Salk Elementary students were in class last week working on making Christmas cards for members of the military serving overseas. Little did Arijah Mendoza know that she would get to deliver the card she was making for her stepfather, Marine Corps Cpl. Tony Grimes, in person.
Grimes had been away from home for nine months, but surprised Arijah at school on Dec. 19. When her stepdad showed up, "she got a little distracted while working on the card," officials said.
