Naperville Ribfest Could Come To Romeoville In 2020

The Romeoville Ribfest? Officials say the Naperville Ribfest is thinking about a change of venue.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — After several decades in Knoch Park, Naperville's famous Ribfest could become Romeoville's after next year, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

Organizers of the multi-million dollar fundraiser, which benefits more than 50 charities and draws hundreds of thousands to Naperville every year, say Romeoville, Oswego and Aurora are among possible venues after construction projects knocked Ribfest out of Knoch Park.

Over more than 3 decades, Ribfest has raised more than $16 million to fight domestic abuse, according to the Exchange Club of Naperville, which runs the event. Despite the anticipated move, the group's director, Rick Grimes, said the club wants to maintain its impact on the community.

"If we’re unable to hold it in Naperville, we want to hold it relatively close," Grimes told The Chicago Tribune.

Officials say they hope to announce the location of Ribfest 2020 around the time of this year's event, scheduled for July.
