Carol B. Waliczek Galena
Age 86, of Joliet, IL and formerly of Summerfield, FL and Romeoville, IL passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at Adventist Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was born February 24, 1934 to the late Bea and Fred Wolff in Chicago and was raised in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

Preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond J. Waliczek (former Will County Sheriff’s dept), second husband, Charles Galena; son-in-law, Tom Purcell; sister, Dorothy (late Henry “Hank”) Gill; brother, Donald (late Helen) Wolff; nephew, Robert Burke as well as Kenneth Falkenberg who was like a son-in-law to Carol.
Beloved mother of Raymond W. (Cindy) Waliczek, Karen (David) Hurd, Sharon (the late Thomas) Purcell, and Elaine (Edward) Olsen; loving grandmother of Raymond F. (Nicole) Waliczek, Shannon K. (Darren) Champen, Thomas “Cole” Waliczek; Carol R. “Karie” (Steven) Drabik, David M. Hurd; Therese M. “Terri” Purcell, Thomas G. “Tommy” Purcell; Nicole E. Olsen and Scott R. “Scotty” Olsen; proud and devoted “GG” to Maddy, Raymond A., Payton, Ryan; Ava and Isabella; dear aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Carol is also survived by Chuck Galena's children; Charles Galena, Ann Marie (late Jim) Hayes, Cheryl (Jim) Robson, Geralynn (Larry) Smith, Mary Beth Prange and their children and grandchildren.
She will be remembered fondly for her warm heart and kind ways. She indulged in the lost art of creating and personalizing her own greeting/holiday cards and in her younger years enjoyed ceramics and crafts.
Visitation for Carol will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 from 3-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Facemasks and distancing are required and capacity restrictions will be followed. Funeral services will begin Saturday Morning, January 30, 2021, 10 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle Crest Hill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum in Romeoville, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to Sloan Kettering, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls or the charity of the donors choice would be greatly appreciated.
