ROMEOVILLE, IL — As the Chicago area experienced its biggest snowstorm of the year over the weekend, Romeoville got over 12.5 inches of snow, the highest in Will County.
According to the National Weather Service, Romeoville saw 12.9 inches of snow. Exactly a decade after 2011's "Snowmageddon," which brought more than 21 inches of snow to O'Hare, the Saturday/Sunday snowstorm saw a foot of snow or more in some areas.
It has also been predicted by the National Weather Service that colder weather is headed to the Chicago area, including temperatures near or below zero and wind chills of -20 or colder. The deep freeze is expected to arrive Saturday evening through Sunday night, with most of the Chicago area seeing colder-than-usual temperatures between Feb. 6 and Feb. 10.

Unlike the 2011 snowstorm which left some Romeoville roads impassable and forced businesses including Walmart and Buffalo Wild Wings to close, the weekend snowfall was much more manageable. Commander Robert Fetzer of the Romeoville Police Department told Patch that the department handled only three property damage accidents between 3 p.m. on Saturday and until midnight on Sunday.

"Other than parking complaints, no significant complaints were received due to the snow," he said. "Romeoville Public Works did a spectacular job with snow removal, which is evidenced by the low number of vehicle crashes the department handled during the snow event."
Illinois Regional Manager Shannon Antinori contributed to this reporting.
