Parts of Lake Strini Closed For Construction Through Fall
Once finished, the renovations will include a boardwalk across the lake, native vegetation and a butterfly garden.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — The village of Romeoville announced Monday that parts of Lake Strini will be closed for construction that's expected to end in late fall, according to a Facebook post.
The village board approved a contract with Integral Construction for the project in early March.
The park improvement, at 524 West Belmont Drive, is part of the Lake Strini Redevelopment Project, for which the village was awarded $382,800 in matching grant funds from Open Space Land And Development in early 2020.

The redevelopment, once complete, will include native vegetation, butterfly and rain gardens, fishing stations and decks. There'll also be a boardwalk extending across the lake, a bike repair station, fitness stations and two cornhole games visitors can use.
The improvements are expected to attract visitors and serve as a "destination for ecological and environmental education," according to an earlier news release.

"We look forward to the new nature experiences Lake Strini will be able to provide for our residents, students, and visitors," Romeoville Mayor John Noak said in the release.
