People Between Ages 20-29 Affected More By COVID-19 In Romeoville

ROMEOVILLE, IL — More people in the 20-29 age range have tested positive for the coronavirus in Romeoville, according to the public health data. As of Tuesday, out of the 975 confirmed cases in the village, 207 belong to this age group, accounting for 21 percent of the total number of positive cases in the village, the Illinois Department of Public Health website reports.

The next group to be affected is 40-49, followed by 50-59. Those between the ages of 60 to 80 and above have been affected the least. Only 2 percent of those above the age the 80 that had been tested for the virus got positive results.

Data also shows that more women in the village have received positive results for COVID-19 as compared to men, accounting for 52 percent. More number of women also got tested for the virus, according to IDPH.

Although restrictions have been lifted in Will County and the region is showing positive COVID-19 numbers, the numbers in Romeoville are still not ideal. As of Tuesday, the 7-day rolling positivity rate is 7.64 percent, which has increased significantly since Sept. 15 when it had fallen to 5.35 percent.

Number of new cases per 100,000 people is currently 131 — the target is 50 — which is the third-highest it has been since July 24. The rolling average of number of cases per day is also high at 7. The highest it has been since July is 8, as per the IDPH website.

As of Monday night, 1,455 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state, including 367 in intensive care and 153 on ventilators, according to state health officials.
