Premiere TEDx Lewis University Next Week
The virtual event will feature five Lewis professors sharing their stories about being teachers, leaders, creators, activists and advisors.
ROMEOVILLE, IL —Lewis University will host its first ever TEDx Lewis University on April 16, a virtual event featuring five Lewis professors sharing their stories about being teachers, leaders, creators, activists and advisors.
The event, which is free, takes place between 9 a.m. and noon and will be filmed and streamed from the Philip Lynch Theatre. The Lewis University Innovation Hub is sponsoring the event, and those interested in attending virtually can sign up online. There also will be panel discussion.
According to a release, the event will celebrate the speakers: five dynamic women who are showing up to face challenges head-on, all while empowering each other to shape the future.

The featured speakers and the topics of their talks are:
- Dr. Vesna Markovic, associate professor in the College of Education and Social Sciences, "The Hall of Change and the Great 8: Honoring Human Growth and Contributions to the Community."
- Dr. Sheila Boysen, associate professor in the College of Business, "What do you want to be when you grow up? ... Let's change the question."
- Dr. Clare Rothschild, professor of humanities, fine arts and communications, "Discovery at the Margins."
- Camille Byrd O'Quinn, assistant professor from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, "The Impact of Linguistic Bias on Education."
- Dr. Gina Martinez, assistant professor in the College of Aviation, Science and Technology, "IoT: Beyond the Smart Gadgets."
