Restaurant With Plans to Come to Joliet Earns Zagat 'Best Burger' Honors

A restaurant with plans to open a second location in Joliet was crowned as the best place for burgers in Chicago by Zagat.
Known for its rankings of restaurants and night spots, Zagat named the Lockdown Bar & Grill’s “Warden” as the No. 1 burger in Chicago: “Made with a Davis Creek Meats bacon-infused blend, the $14 signature burger at this prison-themed joint is ’off the chain,’” Zagat said. “It’s stuffed with Merkts cheddar and covered in fried leeks, shallots and truffle aïoli.”

The original restaurant is in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood, but owner PJ Zonis plans to open a second location soon in Joliet.

The heavy metal-themed restaurant, which focuses on burgers and craft beers, is slated to move into the former Crabigales Comedy Club at Chicago and Cass streets.
In addition to earning the Zagat’s top burger nod, the eatery has also beenfeatured on WTTW’s “Check, Please.”
