Contract will include many of the old services, with a few new services like: a $2 senior/veteran discount and extended yard waste service.
ROMEOVILLE, IL —The Romeoville Village Board has announced it has agreed to a new five-year contract with Waste Management.
While many of the collection services will stay the same, there are some new services to report:
- There will be a new $2 monthly discount for senior citizens and disabled veterans.
- Weekly yard waste service has been extended, and now lasts from April 1 to the second full week in December.
- Customers are allowed two bulk items per week.
- There is a limit of up to three white goods per week (which includes: appliances like refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, water heaters and dishwashers).
- Up to four tires can be removed, but they must not include rims.
"We want to ensure our residents are able to dispose of things easily and properly," Romeoville Mayor John Noak said. "Waste Management has been a tremendous partner and we look forward to working with them for another five years."

One of the services that will remain the same as it was under the previous contract is At Your Door service. This program gives residents a chance to schedule appointments for Waste Management to pick up potentially hazardous and hard to recycle items like: household chemicals, electronics, batteries, paint products, automotive products and more. Appointments can be scheduled online.
Additionally, Spring Cleanup Week is scheduled for May 10-14. During this time, there will be unlimited pickup of large items on residents' regularly scheduled pickup day. No construction materials or hazardous materials will be taken, though the latter can be handled through the At Your Door service. Customers should make sure that items outside of their toter are contained within plastic bags or containers.
