Romeoville Coronavirus Numbers Highest In 2 Months

As of Tuesday, the 7-day rolling average positivity is at 9.84 percent.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Coronavirus numbers in Romeoville are moving in the wrong direction, according to data provided by the Will County Health Department. As of Tuesday, the 7-day rolling average positivity is at 9.84 percent, which is the third highest it has been in two months.

Positivity rate in the village in the past two days were 10.95 percent and 10.64 percent.

The number of new cases per 100,000 people is also high at 257, going down slightly from 280 in the past two days. The target for this metric is 50 cases or fewer. WCHD reports a total of 1,249 cases in Romeoville as of Monday.

This comes after Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced new restrictions on Region 7 (Will and Kankakee) after positivity rates in those two regions eclipsed 8 percent for three straight days.

The state's regional coronavirus-mitigation strategies — which went into effect Friday — include a ban on indoor service at restaurants and bars, as well as a cap on the size of public gatherings.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health website, more people in Romeoville between the ages of 20-29 have tested positive for the coronavirus, followed by those in the 40-49 age range. Among all those who tested positive, 34.7 percent are Hispanic and 52 percent are female.
