“This is a unique usage of the building. It is interesting to see how the car sales market has evolved,” Mayor John Noak said.

The dealership will be located on a 92,000-square-foot parcel with 89 parking spaces.

Trustee Sue Micklevitz said it’s not your typical used car lot, because all of the leads will come from the Internet and many vehicles will be shipped to customers.

In addition to the lot, Driven Motorsports will occupy a 4,800-square-foot warehouse, which will be used for vehicle storage and office space. Roughly 15 vehicles can be stored inside the space at one time, the village said.

Trustees also signed off on a special use permit for truck sales at MHC Trucking, 1250 Lakeside Dr.

“They are very big throughout the United States and this will be their first site in Illinois. We are very excited about this. It is a good use for this site,” Noak said.

The property was formally used by R & R Transportation, and MHC is proposing to lease the space for their truck sales operation.

Trustee Jose Chavez said he’s pleased to see activity in the village’s older industrial parks.
