Romeoville School Receives Donation To Enhance STEM Programs

Mohammed Qurashi, of Romeoville, has donated $500 to the Valley View Schools on behalf of the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A Romeoville Business Owner, true to his annual tradition for the past decade, has once again donated to enhance math and science programs in the Valley View School District.

Mohammed Qurashi has donated $500 to the Valley View Schools on behalf of the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program, according to a news release from the district.

A. Vito Martinez Middle School in Romeoville was the beneficiary of this year's donation. Quarashi owns and operates the Mobil stations on 135th Street and Route 53 in Romeoville.

The middle school will use the money to help supplement the school’s science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, program and activities.

"We appreciate Mr. Quarashi’s longstanding and continuous commitment to our schools and our community," AVM Principal Sarah DeDonato said in the news release. "He has a deep understanding of the importance of educating students in the sciences and math, and the path that education creates to careers in technology and engineering."

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program seeks to create "aha" moments for students by providing STEM funds to schools all over the country. Since the inception of this national program, ExxonMobil has committed over $34 million to supporting STEM programs in schools.
